StarPulse

StarPulse is a game I made a while ago. You can grab it here.

Controls:
Mouse to move.
Left mouse (hold down) to fire gun.
Middle mouse (hold down) to charge and fire superweapon.
Right click to fire homing missiles.

Support for this game has been discontinued. However, feel free to discuss the game here.

I used someone else's engine written in Delphi C, I think, and just used scripts to process the game functions. Very simple.

You probably have an over reactive virus scanner. You should be able to tweak some settings to get it to behave normally. Either that or install an alternative antivirus program.

Looking at the code in OllyDbg...seems like there's a section that's very weirdly compressed. Olly doesn't recognize many of the function calls within this range. Might be causing the problem.

I dunno though, I scanned it with around 6 antiviruses and there aren't any problems detected.

I tried this game but it doesnt work very well. it slows down a couple of moments after you start. Maybe my computer isn't very good?
Its still an interesting game, but you should make it easier to play, its hard for me to hit the other ships.

Edit: I tried to download the game again but when I click the link it just goes back to the main page.

Welcome to the forums, Kerii!

I fixed the link. Not sure why it got changed. As for the game being slow on your computer, I think your computer might not have enough memory (or a fast enough videocard) to run the program.

For the technically-inclined people here, the program uses Direct3D and memory-hogging particle systems - not a very efficient approach.

I probably won't be updating this game, it's an old project which had its little share of 'fame' about two or three years ago, followed by a short-lived comeback last year. Updating it now would sort of remove its sentimental value. Besides, I'm sure I could make an entirely new space shooter, but using better code.

LOLs. The game lags so badly when I use more than 10 guns and hold the right click button. It's sorta cheap, since the missiles are homing and I fire 10 at once, even though only 1 is needed to kill an enemy. Then the other nine go flying around till another enemy spawns...kaboom :D
